Description
Trumpeter Swan (cygnus buccinator) – Oyster River, Vancouver Island
Once an endangered species, the trumpeter swan is now a common sight on Vancouver Island during the winter months where it forages for food in fields, wetlands, and intertidal areas. The migrate to Alaska for the summer, and return to the Island in the late fall. Their diet consists mainly of aquatic plants and grasses.
