Mallard Duck (anas platyrhynchos) – Errington, Vancouver Island
Mallard ducks are common in both shallow fresh and salt water wetlands. They frequently interbreed with other types of ducks creating hybrid species. They are omnivorous, eating a variety of food including many plants, seeds, insects, snails, and crustaceans.
